Here’s a cheery little TV diversion for Bay Area resident suffering from the shelter-in-place blues: Pat Sajak, Vanna White and “Wheel of Fortune” are celebrating our region all this week.

From April 27-May 1, San Francisco and the Bay Area will be showcased on “Wheel of Fortune” with a custom set decorated with iconic scenery featuring the city’s skyline, trolley cars, the Golden Gate Bridge, the Painted Ladies, and Ghirardelli Square.

The episodes will also feature segments and scenic footage shot on location during Sajak and White’s visit to the San Francisco Bay Area.

Even better: All of the contestants appearing throughout the week will be from the Bay Area. To find contestants, the Wheelmobile, the show’s promotional vehicle, held events at Graton Resort & Casino in Rohnert Park last September.

Some of those contestants include: Kathy Pelton, a retired physical therapist from Hayward; Jen Sorrell DiGiacomo, a dermatologist from Daly City; Tamisha Smith, an office administration specialist (and passionate 49ers fan) from Oakland; Valerie Lau, an English language tester and UC Berkeley grad from Sunnyvale; and George McCrudden-Cook, a customer service lead and hip-hop enthusiast from Vallejo.

Maybe they’ll be as fortunate as Arzo Mehdavi, an emergency room nurse from Hayward who, just last week, won $56,620 in cash and prizes while playing the “Wheel.” While Arzo watched the episode virtually with her friends and family, White surprised the group by joining the watch party live to congratulate Arzo and chat with her guests.

White, by the way, is adding an extra bit of style to this week’s Bay Area celebration. She’ll be clad in outfits specially designed by iconic costume and fashion designer Bob Mackie.

“Wheel of Fortune” airs weeknights at 7:30 p.m. on KGO (ABC 7).

“I have been watching ‘Wheel’ and ‘Jeopardy’ since the Eighties. They are part of American life. Some nights I get all the answers and some nights I think I lost my brain,” Mackie told WWD. “Also, Vanna wore some of my dresses way back when and amazingly she is exactly the same size today.”

During the week, White also wears a new design Mackie custom-made for her, as well as a more casual piece, a $99 rainbow wheel pattern kimono from the “Wheel of Fortune” collection, which includes glitter T-shirts, denim jackets, scarves and neckties.

“I have been a huge fan of his my whole life,” said White, who has been on “Wheel” for 38 years. She made headlines at the end of last year after stepping in to host the show for three weeks while Pat Sajak was out for emergency surgery.

With more than 25 million weekly viewers, the Sony Pictures Television show on CBS reaches more people than any other program on TV. It’s the latest entertainment property to have its intellectual property inspire an apparel collection; last week, Netflix announced its hit show “Narcos” will get the fashion treatment.

Beginning as a sketch artist under legendary costume designer Edith Head, Mackie is responsible for some of Hollywood’s most iconic looks on-screen and on the red carpet, having dressed Cher, Carol Burnett, Bette Midler, Elton John and many more. He has also been designing a collection for QVC since 1992.

The Emmy and Tony award-winner has been quarantining at his house in the desert during the pandemic. “I am so grateful every day I get up and look at the beautiful, blue sky and the mountains, which have snow on the top, and go out on my patio,” said the designer, who is the subject of an upcoming documentary film produced by Anne Chertoff. “So who cares if it’s 110 degrees?”
